This is Khai Ngo, a professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Florida in the United States of America. I am also the Asia admission coordinator for our department.
We are interested in broadening the participation of talented students from Asia countries in our graduate program. I am writing to ask for your cooperation in this endeavor. In particular, please employ whatever means you deem effective to tribute the following information (in italic font) about the University of Florida to your students, and to your colleagues.
The University of Florida’s College of Engineering graduate school is ranked among the Top 25 programs according to U.S. News & World Report. Our graduates are employed by some of the largest high-tech companies, including Motorola, General Electric, Intel, and Texas Instruments. We have about 400 graduate students in our program, which makes our ECE graduate program one of the largest in the US. Our large program offers you more flexibility in selecting your courses and your research direction.
Admission to our program is selective; the minimum admission requirements are a Grade-Point-Average of 3.0/4, a GRE score of 1200 (verbal + quantitative), and an analytical writing score of 3.5. Applicants with exceptional academic records can be admitted directly into the Ph.D. program with only a Bachelor's degree.
Most excelling students admitted to our graduate program receive a tuition waiver and a stipend. These will cover a large part of your direct expenses for the duration of the program. A Master's degree can be completed in one year, while the average duration of studies toward a Ph.D. degree is about four years. In addition, we are pleased to offer Academic Achievement Awards to qualified students who are not eligible for in-state tuition.
To obtain more information about our program, courses, research laboratories, and faculty, please visit our web site at www.ece.ufl.edu where you will also find on-line application forms. Our application deadline is February 1. You may also contact us directly via email at office@graduate.ece.ufl.edu.
Sincerely,
Khai D. T. Ngo, Professor of ECE
